Gender and Space
Description
This seminar is about the relationship between architecture, body and gender. Does the space defined by social gender exist at all? What does it look like? By what exactly is it experienced as determinant? Or is the cry for gender-appropriate spatial concepts ultimately "only" evidence of politically motivated movements in our society? Conversely, is the gender-neutral space not rather a deceptive illusion? Is it worth thinking about this as a budding architect? If so, in which contexts of one's own creative process do these questions become significant?
The topics "space as metaphor, space as relation, space as architectural and artistic practice" in the gender discourse of our time will be presented and discussed in this seminar in a highlight-like manner using various examples.
